Learn to Sail Programs


VYBA offers several opportunities for learn to sail in the fall; Homeschool sailing, Youth Learn to sail and the High school sailing club. Click on the links below to get registration information!


Registration is currently closed for Fall 2024 Youth Learn to sail program!

 

No experience required! Each sailor learns how to captain their own Optimist Pram, sunfish or 420 and all the basic sailing knowledge that goes with it from basic seamanship to rigging and sailing.

Homeschool Sailing Program- Click here for registration information - The Homeschool program is a school year program for ages 6-18 to not only teach students how to sail but to also explore our environment through STEM and sailing. We will learn how to sail the various boats we have available, explore islands and sandbars we sail around, conduct STEM related activities that pertain to sailing and more. Youth Learn to Sail (AGES 7-13) - CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION - The Youth Learn to Sail Program is an 8-day progressive learn to sail program using the US Sailings basic learn to sail curriculum and is a feeder program to the school year Adventure Sail program. Your student will learn the basics of sailing starting with basic seamanship to rigging and sailing their own Opti. Once they complete this beginner sailing course, they will be eligible to enroll in the Adventure Sail program in the Spring (January). Click the link above for more details.


High School Sailing Club (AGES 14-18) - Click here for registration information - This club is a fun filled sailing adventure where you can come sail with friends, meet new ones, and have fun on the water. Some sailing experience is necessary, but the club founders are willing to teach the basics to have fun and get on the water.

Friday Family Fun Sails one Friday a month!  Parents/Guardians can choose to sail an Opti (yes adults can sail an Opti Pram too!), sunfish or pair up in a C420 for a Friday Evening Adventure Sail with their Adventure or Race Team Sailor! Click here for more Family Fun Sail Information
