ADULT LEARN TO SAIL - No Experience Necessary! Held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from 5:30pm—8:30pm for two weeks with a final celebration sail on the last Friday of the session (6 sessions total). Have you watched your youth sailor on the water and thought “I’d like to do that too!” or maybe sailing has always been on your bucket list? Whatever the reason, now is your chance to learn to sail! VYBA is offering Summer Learn To Sail specifically for adults.
POLLYWOGS (ages 6-8) — No experience required! Learn to sail with a buddy in the boat and have fun experiencing sailing on our local Bays.
OPTIMIST BEGINNER (ages 9-14) — No experience required! Each sailor learns how to captain their own Optimist Pram and all the basic sailing knowledge that goes with it over two fun and exciting weeks.
OPTIMIST ADVANCED (ages 9-14) - Pre-requisite Optimist Beginner or experience. Learn the fine tuning skills to get your sail in shape to sail fast - longer courses and more advanced skills!
OPTIMIST BEGINNER RACE (ages 9-14) - Pre-requisite Optimist Beginner. Do you want to join our School Year Race Team? Learn all the basics of racing here. Sailors will be placed in the type of sailboat they would be racing in and learning from some of our race coaches!
OPTIMIST ADVANCED RACE(ages 9-14) — Pre-requisite Optimist Beginner Race! Advanced skills and knowledge on the Optimist Pram to help our young sailors push forward in the sport.
C420 BEGINNER (ages 14-18) — No experience required! Each sailor works with a teammate to captain and crew a Club 420 sailboat for two weeks of fun and learning.
C420 ADVANCED (ages 14-18) — Pre-requisite C420 Beginner! One week course, sailors work together to master the advanced skills on the C420: trapeze and spinnaker.
LASER RADIAL BEGINNER (ages 14-18) - No experience required to try out this fast race boat! Minimum weight suggested: 90lbs
HIGH SCHOOL SAILING INTRO (8th grade+) — Interested in competing with the VHS Club Sailing Team? Learn the ropes here!
FULL DAY ADVENTURE FUN (ages 6-17) - A full day of fun water activities including sailing, kayaking, swimming , STEM related activities and arts and crafts. 9am—3pm.
●Closed-toe Shoes (no Crocs or Flip-flops on land or water)
● US Coast Guard Approved Type III Life Jacket
● Clothes that can get wet!
● A change of clothes or towel for end of day
● Whistle (to be attached to Life Jacket)
● Hat or Sunglasses
● Ability to swim! (There is a swim test on the first day!)
