Learn to Sail—It's Never Too Late!

Have you ever watched your child sail and thought, "I'd love to try that!" Or maybe learning to sail has always been on your bucket list.

Now is the perfect time to get out on the water!

The Venice Youth Boating Association's Adult Learn to Sail program is designed specifically for adults with little or no sailing experience. Following the US Sailing Basic Learn to Sail curriculum, this hands-on course provides a fun, supportive environment where you'll build confidence while learning the fundamentals of sailing.

Over the course of 15 hours of classroom and on-the-water instruction, you'll learn:

• Water safety and seamanship
• Parts of the sailboat and sailing terminology
• Rigging and launching
• Steering and sail trim
• Tacking and jibing
• Docking and basic boat handling

By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and confidence to rig, launch, and safely sail a small boat on your own.

Instruction takes place aboard our stable, beginner-friendly training boats with experienced US Sailing Certified Instructors who are passionate about helping new sailors succeed.

Whether you're looking for a new hobby, a lifelong skill, or simply want to spend more time on the water with family and friends, we'd love to welcome you aboard.

No sailing experience is required!

Tuition

$500 per sailor

• Use of all boats and sailing equipment
• US Sailing Basic Learn to Sail curriculum
• Instruction from experienced US Sailing Certified Instructors

Summer Adult Learn to Sail

Required for Participation:

• Ability to swim, lift, bend, and move

• Coast Guard–approved life jacket

• Refillable water bottle

• Closed-toed water shoes

• A positive attitude and readiness for fun on the water!

Join us every Wednesday evening for a fun, casual sail with fellow sailors.
