LASER BEGINNER (ages 14-18) — This course is recommended for those sailors who age/grow out of the Opti and want to continue the single-handed racing. Minimum Recommended Weight 90lbs. Prior sailing experience a must.
Goals for this laser sailing course: safety, parts of the boats, rigging/derigging, capsize/recovery, knots/lines, points of sail, casting off/landing, upwind/downwind sailing, intro to racing, and of course having fun!
Cost: $375/sailor
Swim Requirement:
Sailors must be able to swim 50 yards. A swim test will be given on the first day.
What to Bring Each Day:
• Refillable water bottle
• Lunch and snack (no refrigeration available)
• U.S. Coast Guard–approved Type III life jacket (PFD) with whistle attached
• Closed-toe shoes (must be worn at all times — no Crocs or flip-flops on land or water)
• Sunscreen
