Scholarships

Scholarship Policy
As a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, our funding for scholarships is very limited.  To the extent possible, we offer partial or full scholarships to those sailors in need due to their families’ financial circumstances.

Whenever possible, we request that some level of payment toward tuition for a sailing program be made by the sailor’s family.  Such payments are required before the sailing student begins a class or program.

A formal scholarship application is required at least three (3) weeks prior to a class beginning date in which a parent wishes to enroll a boy or girl.

Our scholarships do not “evergreen.”  Parents of sailing students on a current scholarship for a given program must submit a new application for any subsequent program.

Examples:
  1.  If a beginning summer student is on a partial or full scholarship and then wishes to take the advanced sailing class, the parents must notify VYBA of that intent as soon as possible.
  2.  If a school year program student wishes to enroll for the following school year program, the parents must submit a new scholarship application.
