2018 Spring Break Sailing Week

Stay Tuned! Information for 2018 will post as soon at it's available.

Why stay on land during Spring Break Week?

Come and enjoy fun on the water and learn about sailing!

Pre-Requisite:  Ages: 4th – 8th grade boys and girls

This week-long class from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm is designed to provide basic sailing and teamwork skills and in one week is equivalent to our two week summer beginning classes.

Completion of Spring Break Week qualifies sailing students to take  an Advanced Sailing class in summer, ½ day, two-week sessions which then qualifies the sailing students to join our School Year Program in late August that operates from late August through mid May.

The sailing instruction will utilize singled handed (Opti dinghies) and double handed sailboats (Club 420 dinghies) to teach self-confidence and team work.

The primary goal is to ensure each student enjoys highly positive experiences on the water while challenging them to embrace sailing as a way to enjoy fun on the water and begin learning a life-lasting sport.

Part of the time is spent using “REACH.”  That is U. S. Sailing’s acronym for STEM, so the students an explore the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math that are so integral to the sport of sailing.

Sailors are to bring:
  • A refillable water bottle
  • Daily non-perishable lunch; ice is available; refrigeration for lunches is not available.
  • FDP (Personal Flotation Device)
  • Closed-toe shoes for wear at all times at VYBA – on land and on the water
  • Sunscreen to be applied before sailing and after lunch breaks

Tuition: TBD
