The Venice Yacht Club
Since its founding of the Pram Fleet, in 1952, the forerunner of the Venice Youth Boating Association, the Venice Yacht Club continues to support the VYBA in its mission to serve all youth of greater Venice with the opportunity to learn to sail and learn how to have fun on the water, safely.

In doing so, the Venice Yacht Club has remained dedicated to one of the planks in its charter: "the education of young people in the community in the science of navigation, the art of sailing…."

The over 4,800 boys and girls who have participated in our programs since 1952 and whose lives have been enriched are eloquent testimony to the value of VYBA's programs and their success and to the enduring legacy of the Venice Yacht Club's commitment.

Venice Women’s Sailing Squadron (known as the Bitter Ends)
The Bitter Ends sail every Wednesday morning from September through May and conduct their own "Learn to Sail" program for women beginners who want to learn sailing. They work with the VYBA in helping to maintain the Pram Shed, and our Director is on hand to help them by providing whatever assistance is needed in moving and rigging boats for their morning sail.

We have happily and successfully partnered with the group since 1976, thanks to a shared love of what we do and the commonality of our missions.

Venice Sailing Squadron (VSS)
The VSS is an organization of adult sailors in greater Venice. Their members generously take our young sailors aboard their boats for an annual "Big Boat Day." Using a study course designed by their Commodore, our boys and girls learn about the history of the boat they're sailing on, and the youngsters are given instructions about rigging and sails. Then they are taken on a tour of the boat so they can learn how everything works on a "big boat."

Finally, they help take the boat out into the Gulf where the Captain gives each of the youngsters a turn at the helm. It is a thrilling, fun-filled day for both the youngsters and the big boat members of the VSS.

The Charitable Foundation of the Venice Yacht Club through its semi-annual grants provides assistance to VYBA, in response to our grant applications, with funds that help VYBA provide partial or full scholarships for our sailing students in our various programs. This Foundation is particularly supportive of our partnership with the Venice Boys and Girls Club whose members are invited to participate in our summer program.
